Kingsbrook is pleased to have advised Hempsall Consultancies Ltd in its sale to the Coram Group.

Here is a link to the Coram Group’s official announcement, which you can also read below:

The Coram Group has today announced that the leading children’s sector consultancy and training organisation Hempsall’s has joined the Group, and will become Coram Hempsall’s.

Founded in 1999 by James Hempsall OBE, Hempsall’s supports organisations independently and within Childcare Works programmes – notably in early years, childcare, the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF), local authorities, and central governments – to achieve change and deliver best practice, with a particular focus on tackling inequality and the effects of disadvantage.

Hempsall’s provides project management, consultancy and research in early years and childcare, as well as delivering relevant training workshops and courses. They already collaborate extensively with Coram Family and Childcare, which itself joined the Coram Group in 2019, and will continue to do so as part of the Coram Group.

Dr Carol Homden, CEO of the Coram Group said:

“The integration of Hempsall’s into the Coram Group holds the potential to enable this dynamic business to grow and make even more difference to early years and childcare services available to families. We have a shared understanding of how to bring about change through finding solutions to the problems faced by the sector and families, and then taking practical steps to resolve these issues. I believe this development is a significant step forward combining skills and approaches to achieve lasting change.”

James Hempsall, Managing Director, Coram Hempsall’s said:

“We are delighted to be joining Coram and becoming Coram Hempsall’s. Our mission remains the same – to achieve change and better opportunities for children and families. We are fast approaching our 25th year of supporting providers, businesses, charities, schools, local authorities, and government departments across the UK and the world. We know there is still vital work to be done, and joining the Coram Group will enable us to engage with their extensive network of partners and play an even bigger part in the evolution of childcare and early education, which will be high on the agenda for government and policy makers in the months and years ahead.”

Established as the Foundling Hospital in 1739, Coram is the first and longest serving children’s charity in the UK. Today the Coram Group is a group of specialist organisations supporting hundreds of thousands of children and young people every year. The Coram Group specializes in both front line delivery and achieving systemic change to improve children’s life chances, and combines the expertise of 12 organisations in the common cause of creating better chances for children.

The deal was completed in November 2023.

The deal has also been covered in Nursery Management Today.
